Dance is the main art form in Balinese culture, performed at the
main temple festivals and in ceremonies of the cycle life and death.
Balinese dance is inseparable from religion. A small offering of
food and flowers must precede even dances for tourist. Before performing,
many dancers pray at their familiy shrines, appealing for holy "taksu" (inspiration) from the god.

A ritual dance
created in the early 1930's for the movie "Island of
the Demons" by the German painter and intellectual Walter
Spiess who combined the chorus of the "Sanghyang"

Very impressive with its circular chorus of sometimes over
100 bare chested male singers. "Cak-cak-cak". The
obsessive sound of a choir from beyond the dust of ages suddenly
rises between the lofty trees. Darkness looms over the stage.
